What is Pay-Per-Click (PPC) Marketing?

PPC is an advertising model used on search engines, advertising networks, and content sites. At Silver Arc we concern ourselves, primarily, with search engine paid search marketing.

How PPC Works on Search Engines

Pay-Per-Click advertisers bid on keywords and keyword phrases relevant to their target market. It works much like the Stock Market: not all keywords and phrases are of equal value and worth, and the market sets value.

For instance, the keyword "whatchamacallit" may not have much value or worth, so its minimum bid may be relatively inexpensive. However, a keyword like "milwaukee real estate" will be much more competitive, and, therefore, more costly per click as a keyword.

What is Google's Quality Score

The AdWords system calculates a 'Quality Score' for each of your keywords. It looks at a variety of factors to measure how relevant your keyword is to your ad text and to a user's search query. A keyword's Quality Score updates frequently and is closely related to its performance. In general, a high Quality Score means that your keyword will trigger ads in a higher position and at a lower cost-per-click (CPC).
